You’ll notice a scary box on my inquiry form… you know the one that says, “Ideal Floral Budget” — yeah that one. I cannot even begin to tell you how hard of a question that is to ask without any sort of context. In truth, it helps me gauge a myriad of things based on your answers. But first, it gives me a place to start.

In today’s world, there are hundreds of options for just about anything. Add a new tab to your browsers, right now. Go onto Amazon, go ahead, go, I’ll wait….ok, now type “two heart cake topper” into the search bar, and hit enter. 652 entries! SIX HUNDRED, AND FIFTY TWO ENTRIES! My point? There is always an option for something to be cheaper, faster, or glitzier. The same is true for Wedding & Event Florists.

We have a wide range out there, especially in larger markets like Chicagoland. Its a tough sell, our business. Many clients only purchase or receive flowers on special occasions, rarely purchasing a bunch from the grocery store for themselves unless something prompts them to do so. So the collective ‘we’ of wedding florists are set with the difficult task to explain why our dozen roses costs more than the same bunch you can grab from Jewel for $9.99. So let’ me take a stab at it.

Here’s the skinny, as I, Kimberly, owner of Allium Floral Designs, in Lombard Illinois, sees it: price is simply what you pay. The VALUE of that item/service, is what you receive - and depending on where you go, it is going to be different. I cannot speak to other’s quality of product, or services, but I can tell you all about ours.

Everything that we create at Allium Floral Designs, is 100% custom to the client(s) needs. Their events and circumstances vary greatly, and with that, so do their designs. That being said, there is definitely an average starting-at price that many are interesting in inquiring about before our complimentary consultation. I have done my best to outline them below. I promise, I go into the real details during our one-on-one consultation, but in short, we’re an all-in service.

We’re there from the beginning, planning, meeting, and designing a fairly prominent part of your day. We book product from all over the world: Holland, South America, Thailand, and the United States — and then we ship it here, to Lombard, fresh from farm, sometimes within 48 hours! We then care for the blooms, processing them and preparing them to be used in your arrangements. Babysitting them, showering them with love, { admiring their beauty}, while they re-hydrate. It is then that we take our years of experience, and education, and expertly arrange the individual blooms into completely unique, one-of-a-kind creations. They’re stored in our custom-built home-based cooler, where they stay at the perfect temperature while they wait to meet you.

On wedding/event day, they’re wrapped up, and delivered {sometimes far away(!) to multiple locations(!)} with care, to make sure they arrive as beautifully as they were when they were first created. We pass them out, we pin them on, we set those tables — like I said, ALL IN.

Let’s get into the reason you clicked on this blog post — our pricing. Please note, these items are all subject to flowers used, distance traveled, complexity of design, and are by no means, the be-all-end-all!

Logistics | how we plan to get it all from here to there

All of our deliveries are planned based on the known timeline of the day at our initial consultation. Weddings & events evolve as they’re developed, therefore, the cost of the deliveries may be subject to change.

We begin with the known deliveries of the day: Personals (Bouquets/Wearables), Ceremony, Reception (if different than ceremony), and finally, the Tear-down. From there, we determine what items/staffing need to be at which location at what time, and map out the space between. The timeline of a day is often tight, requiring additional overlap in staffing and vehicles between 1 or 2 locations. It is almost impossible to ballpark an average logistical cost.

During the consultation, we will walk you through the timeline of the day – many of our couples are surprised the level of detail we ask for upfront, but in the end, it makes us incredibly efficient, and have a full understanding of your day’s events.

If you’re looking to try and budget delivery – you can probably estimate 30-40% of your floral total to be made up of delivery/logistics costs.

Whew! If you made it through all of that, *high five* I know it was a lot of information, but I tried to break it up with pretty pictures — Isn’t Grace’s work amazing?!

If you’re not sure what you need, or where to start with pricing your wedding floral, that’s okay! We’re here to help. Feel free to drop us a line, or ask us during our complimentary consultation!

Looking forward to meeting you soon! We’d love to welcome you to the Allium Family!!

XO,

KC
